More Leisure Community Trust and our delivery partner Serco Leisure Operating Ltd work closely with a range of partners who help us to deliver our sports development and activity programmes, as well as train our dedicated staff up to the required levels.

Mansfield District Council

The local authority for Mansfield District and responsible body for the Warsop Health Hub Project. The council’s corporate vision is to grow a vibrant, ambitious and confident place. Wellbeing is priority for the authority with the ambition for Mansfield to be a flourishing place where people can live happy and healthy lifestyles. The council has earmarked up to £1.5m to fund the project.

Strategic Leisure

Strategic Leisure is a Sport, Leisure and Physical Activity management consultancy specialising in the planning, development, management and evaluation of sport, leisure and physical activity facilities, services and events. They have facilitated comprehensive research into the long term health and wellbeing needs of Warsop and supported the local authority in developing a health strategy and plan for the Parish.

Sport England

Sport England is an arms-length body of government responsible for growing and developing grassroots sport and getting more people active across England. They are contributing £1.8m towards the cost of Warsop Health Hub.

Vibrant Warsop CIC

Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities

The Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) supports the development of the Warsop Health Hub with £103,997 funding towards the development of a Changing Places facility. Changing Places provides accessible facilities for people with disabilities.

Severn Trent

Severn Trent are planning on installing 20,000 Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) across the town between now and Spring 2025, reducing the flood risk for 90,000 people!

The investment at Warsop will be up to £40,000 for Severn Trent’s SuDs project. The Severn Trent project is to plant Swale which will soak up rain water and prevent excess water from being pumped back into the sewage system – it’s an environmentally friendly way of reclaiming excess rainwater that will fall from the slanted roof of the new building at Warsop Health Hub.

Towns Fund

The scheme is one of six projects included in the council’s bid to the Government’s Towns Fund. Of the £12.3m awarded from the Fund to the district, £3m is allocated to the health hub plan.

On 27 July 2019, the Prime Minister announced that the Towns Fund would support an initial 101 places across England to develop Town Deal proposals, to drive economic regeneration and deliver long-term economic and productivity growth.

A Town Deal is an agreement in principle between government, the Lead Council and the Town Deal Board. It will set out a vision and strategy for the town, and what each party agrees to do to achieve this vision.

Each of the 101 towns selected to work towards a Town Deal also received accelerated funding last year for investment in capital projects that would have an immediate impact and help places “build back better” in the wake of Covid-19.

Serco Leisure

Serco Leisure Ltd/More Leisure Community Trust is a management company contracted to deliver leisure services across Mansfield on behalf of Mansfield District Council. They operate key sites; Water Meadows, Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre, and Oak Tree Leisure Centre. Serco will manage Warsop Health Hub as part of their contract.

Jack Garner is the Contract Manager for More Leisure Community Trust, which already manages three leisure centres across Mansfield: the Rebecca Adlington Leisure Centre, Water Meadows Leisure Complex and Oak Tree Leisure Centre. One of Jack’s earliest jobs was actually as a lifeguard at Water Meadows.

In his career, he’s also been a fitness instructor, a swimming teacher, and a duty manager, so he’s someone who understands the leisure industry inside and out.

Here’s a few words from Jack…

“I cannot wait for the health hub to open. It’s exactly what this region needs and has been designed according to feedback from people who live in Warsop. The range of facilities on offer means this will become a genuine community hub, not just for sport and fitness, but as a meeting place, and as somewhere for people to socialise. When we open, we’ll be offering the full health and fitness mix, including a range of workout classes, swimming sessions and lessons, plus exercise referral schemes to gently support people back into more active lifestyles.

It’s a long way off at this point, but please look out for our joining offer, which will launch three months prior to opening. If any Warsop locals have visited our other centres, they’ll know what to expect when the health hub opens. We run clean, well presented leisure centres, offering a range of activities for all ages.”
