Adult With Child swimming lessons at Sheppey Leisure Complex are a great way to introduce your little ones to the water, from babies right up to children that are starting school. These lessons follow Swim England’s fun-filled Discovery Duckling programme, making each session playful and engaging.
We like to say there’s no better time to learn to swim than today! Our Non-Swimmer & Beginner lessons are perfect for primary school children who are just starting out in the water. We create a fun, supportive environment where your child can build confidence at their own pace and start to feel right at home in the pool.
Along the way, they’ll learn and improve their swimming strokes, grow stronger in the water, and pick up essential water safety skills too. Before you know it, your little swimmer will be working their way towards achieving Swim England Stage 1 & 2 Awards and having plenty of fun doing it!
Ready to build on what they’ve started? Our Improver & Intermediate lessons are all about helping your child grow in confidence and really develop their swimming skills. We take everything they’ve already learned and help them move it on, supporting steady progress while keeping sessions fun, encouraging and rewarding. As their confidence builds, so does their ability in the water.
They’ll begin to refine their technique across all four strokes - front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, working towards Swim England’s expected standards. We also introduce elements of the Royal Life Saving Society’s Rookie Lifeguard programme, giving them the chance to build water safety skills in a range of situations. It’s a great next step for swimmers who are ready to feel stronger, more capable, and make even more of their time in the pool.

For swimmers ready to take things to the next level, our Advanced lessons are all about building strong technique, confidence and endurance in the water. At this stage, everything they’ve learned starts to come together. We focus on refining stroke quality while gradually increasing swimming distances, helping each swimmer feel smoother, stronger and more in control.
Sessions bring skills to life through linked routines and fun challenges, including obstacle-style activities that combine techniques from earlier stages. Swimmers will also continue to develop their lifesaving skills, growing their confidence in a range of water situations. By the end of the programme, they won’t just be better swimmers, they’ll feel truly at home in the water, with a connection and confidence that stays with them for life.
It’s never too late to start swimming, or to get more from the time you spend in the water. Our adult swimming lessons are designed for everyone, from complete beginners to more experienced swimmers looking to refine their technique. Open to anyone aged 16 and over, there’s no upper age limit - just a warm welcome and support every step of the way. We understand that adults learn differently, with their own goals, motivations and pace. That’s why our sessions are built around clear, achievable targets, helping you grow in confidence, improve your skills and feel comfortable in the water.
